Drowning In My Own Thoughts.
Sarah inhaled shakily as she watched the blood begin to rise from the carpet, making disgusting oozing sounds. She looked up at the woman who stared down with disappointment at Sarah. "This is all your fault." The woman whispered. "W-What?" Sarah responded as she continued to scrub the carpet, using all her strength to try to stop the blood from spreading.
Tears welled up in her eyes, blood quickly filling the room around her. It fell from the corners of the walls, and all the faucets in the home. It boiled over from inside potted plants and oozed from behind paintings on the walls. She cried out as she watched the woman and child get rapidly consumed by the pool of red all around them. They yelled curses at the young girl in different voices as they floated all around her. The voices seemed to multiply every time they opened their mouths. Different voices from all around her as the blood reached the roof, leaving no breathing room for Sarah. She took one final breath and dived into the silent sea of clotting blood beneath her, doing her best not to open her eyes.
It was quiet under the surface. No voices. No disgusting sounds of sloshing blood. No noises at all. That's when she realized it, she couldn't feel the floor. No matter how far down she swam, nothing but space. Nothing around her. She reached out her arms to try to find the piles of junk that had been placed all around her but again she found nothing. Holding her breath was becoming more and more of a task. Her lungs felt like they would burst at any moment. She couldn't handle it anymore. Her eyes shot open and she took a deep inhale. Finding herself now in a completely different room. A hallway. Long and dark with a singular light turning on as she walked before turning off and jumping to the next.
The walls around her were blank and void of color, few frames covered the walls. Old certificates with names Sarah could hardly pronounce. "Je… Jera...meah? Jer… Jeremiah?" She muttered, and traced her finger across the glass, taking note of the dust that had built up on its surface.
Strangely the young girl now felt calm, almost as if none of what she had just gone through was even phasing her, she just continued walking. She took note of the puddles that were now forming at her feet. She scrunched her eyebrows and knelt to feel the liquid. “Water?” She muttered to herself softly. She heard her echoing voice carry down the long empty hallway.
She carried on down the hall and as she walked the water became deeper and deeper. She took note of the vines growing on the walls and the thickness of the air around her. It was humid, and everything felt sticky. As she neared the end of the hall she could see a large opening where all the vines had been coming from. Sarah stepped inside and glanced around. The water was up to her knees by now and it took more effort than anticipated to move through. “Hello?” Called out Sarah as she trudged through the water.
A low bellowing noise came from beneath the surface of the water. It was loud and intimidating Sarah felt frozen in place. Her breathing quickened and she suddenly felt like she couldn't remember how to swallow. Her eyes darted around the room to find the source of the noise. As her eyes finally began to adjust to the darkness, movement all around her legs beneath the surface of the water began to increase. The vines from all around the room now wrapped themselves around her legs, pulling her beneath the water.
She struggled and fought, trying her best to pull away, but as her head went beneath the surface of the water, she found herself being pulled towards the source of the noise she had heard, yet that was hardly the first thing on her mind. She couldn’t breathe. She screamed from beneath the surface of the water and thrashed violently before suddenly with great force being pulled from the water by another vine that came from the ceiling. She felt herself being pulled by 3 more separate vines. One vine wrapped around each of her limbs, pulling her tightly into the letter “X”. She cried out defeatedly as the source of the noise suddenly revealed itself to her. That smile. That horrible smile… Yet.. there was something strangely familiar about it…
